I had the money and gave it to the very kind and joyful man – who works at our local 7-11. Our family visits the 7-11 every Sunday after church, and we are always cheerfully greeted by Hari. We have had several conversations over the past few months, and I have found out that he works EVERY SINGLE DAY to support his family. He is married and has a 3 year old son. Recently, his wife went back to work, so now he works every evenings so he can be home with his son during the day while his wife is gone – except for Sunday, and on Sunday he works mornings. After I was given the money, the following Sunday we went to the store after church, and I immediately knew upon entering that he was to be the recipient, I just knew.
For a person who works everyday – I am in awe of the joyful and kind attitude he shares with all his customers. I wanted him to know he had made an impact on us and I’m sure on others because of that joyful spirit, and wrote a letter to tell him so and to tell him about you wonderful ladies and our group and why I was sharing our money with him. The next time I went into the store, he told me a story after I remarked about his happy attitude. He held out a coin, and asked me to imagine it was a ball, any kind of ball – football or basketball, shape didn’t matter – and then he asked me to imagine it bouncing. He said it doesn’t matter where on the ball it hits the ground, it will always bounce back up. He said he tried to live that way, knowing things would always bounce back up. I was really impacted by that simple word picture, and he was very grateful for our gift. So thank you to all for the opportunity to share your money this month.
